Everything you ever wanted to know about the Private forums and more.....

Lets start with the basics and some frequently asked questions,

1. Private Forum? what is the Private Forum? The Private Forum (from now on known as PF) is an area of The switchboard message boards that are reserved for those already in business and who would like to chat in a more private setting. Some subjects just are a little more sensitive then others.

2.Who can join the PF? Any registered open forum user who owns and runs her own business. You must also make some or all of what you sell.

3.How do i join? simple! download, print out an application (see below), fill out, and send it over to the mailing address provided on the application.

4.Do i have to have all of the listed requirements on the application? No at this time you only need to provide ONE of the following: (please see application for further details!)

* Fully functional web shop, must be hosted by you (www.yourshop .com) sorry no etsy or ebay shops
* business license and/or resale #
* proof of items sold in consignment or retail shop


5. How long will it take for my application to be processed? Please allow 5 business days from the time it should arrive at the address provided. That means if you live on the east coast and it takes 3 days to get to my mailbox it should take around 8 days to be fully processed. If after the 8 days you do not receive any email etc. please PM or email me.

6. I live in another country can i join the PF? absolutely! just be aware that it may take longer to process.

how do I get back into the private forum? I couldn't get back to the switchboards for over a week now and had to completely re-register as the password email didn't work for me - do I have to re-apply to get back into the PF? Thanks, Merle

How do I get back into the private forum? I've sent in the application and PMed, and ever since the site redesign I haven't had access. I'd love any help. :)

I've been trying off and on since September 2008. I was in the private forum before, and I haven't been allowed access since the switch. Not helpful I know, but I haven't been able to get much information either, so you're not alone.

Yes, I just signed on to say I recieved my letter back TODAY! Gotta love the USPS! Mine was post marked May 12, and the yellow sticker return label says "return to sender-attempted-not known-unable to forward".

If it weren't just mine I'd blame it on my postal person since we've had ongoing issues.Off to double check the address I sent it to, too. It could always be me. ;)

I also had my envelope returned to me. I messages someone here in the forums but never received an answer. Is there a way to apply online? Any news on the updated address?

Update: I'm still trying to figure out why some of my mail is being returned! Why must the Post Office make this so difficult? For the time being, just hold onto your applications for a little while longer, I have an appointment to talk with someone this week. If you absolutely must get into the PF immediately, contact me and we'll see what we can do.

Woohoo! The situation with my post office has been cleared up and the PO Box is up and running again! Feel free to send those applications.
